Project Vote/Voting For America, Inc. v. Elisa Long
Project Vote and its voting partner, Advancement Project sought to examine Norfolk, Va. rejected voter registration applications after community partners reached out with complaints about a large number of rejected voter registration applications, many which came from students at the historically African American university -- Norfolk State. Elisa Long, the general registrar of Norfolk, denied Advancement Project and Project Vote's right to review the records, leading to both groups filing suit in U.S. District Court in Norfolk, Va.
