*In his State of the Commonwealth address on January 9, 2013, Governor Bob McDonnell announced his support for a constitutional amendment to automatically restore civil rights for persons who have committed a felony, but paid their debts to society.  People who have convicted a felony in Virginia permanently lose their civil rights to vote, serve on a jury, run for public office, and serve as a notary.  Virginia is only one of four states that takes these civil rights for life.  As a result, there are 350,000 Virginians who have paid their debt to society, but cannot participate in our democracy.  Join Governor McDonnell in his support of these Virginians, who deserve a second chance.  To learn more about this issue, visit our website and/or read our latest press release.
