< Back to Voter Protection Alerts November 7, 2006 TELL VIRGINIA VOTERS TO IGNORE INTIMIDATING PHONE CALLS AND GO TO THE POLLS TO VOTE TODAYMany Virginia voters have received suspicious phone calls that attempted to misdirect or confuse them about Election Day. One such phone call told the voter that he was registered in another state and threatened him with arrest if he showed up at the polls. Other voters were told that their polling location has changed. Yet other voters received flyers that say “Skip This Election.” These calls and flyers are phony attempts to intimidate voters and are being investigated. If you or someone you know has received one of these phone calls or flyers, please preserve evidence of this wrongdoing by keeping the flyer and not erasing the phone message. Advancement Project’s attorneys are available to answer your questions about voting or about how to respond to intimidation. Contact us at 202-728-9557 or voterprotection@advancementproject.org. ABOVE ALL, DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED FROM GOING TO THE POLLS TODAY AND VOTING.
