Racial Profiling in Arizona County: Hundreds of Thousands of Votes Still Not Counted!

What’s going on?

In Arizona’s Maricopa County, hundreds of thousands of ballots have yet to be counted.

As Advancement Project understands the situation, many eligible Latino voters were improperly forced to cast provisional ballots. This is the notorious Sherriff Joe Arpaio's county —and the same county that distributed Spanish-language voter registration cards with the wrong election date – so it is important to support the Latino community there.

In our democracy, every vote by every citizen is supposed to count. We all have an equal voice in the voting booth, and our elections must follow this fundamental American principle.

Why does this matter?

Sherriff Joe Arpaio, who is being investigated by the Department of Justice for racial profiling, believes he was re-elected. Yet if all ballots are counted, the results could change. This petition demands an end to the continued racial profiling in Maricopa County, whose residents comprise more than 60% of the entire Arizona electorate. By calling for not only the full accounting of all uncounted ballots, but also an investigation into the various problems encountered by voters on Election Day, we hope that this petition will help stop systemic discrimination in the American electoral process.
