Sara Jackson joined Advancement Project in 2011 as a Staff Attorney in the “Quality Education” and “Inclusive Development” programs. Her work focuses on ensuring that low-income communities and communities of color have access to quality schools, safe, healthy and thriving neighborhoods, and have power in school and community decision making processes. Prior to joining Advancement Project, Sara was a Civil Rights Fellow and then Staff Attorney at the Equal Justice Society (EJS) in San Francisco, California. At EJS, Sara worked on a variety of civil rights and racial justice issues with a particular focus on advancing equal opportunity in education, employment and public contracting.
Sara is a graduate of UCLA School of Law, where she participated in the Public Interest Program and Critical Race Studies concentration. During law school, Sara externed for the NAACP Legal Defense & Education Fund and for the Honorable Richard Paez on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. She earned a Masters in Public Policy from the UCLA School of Public Affairs and a B.A. in International Studies from Macalester College.
